THE self-confessed spokesman of the Boko Haram sect, Ali Sanda Umar Konduga, who was recently freed after serving a three-year jail term, has been rearrested at the Maiduguri residence of Senator Ali Ndume.

He was said to have been apprehended by policemen attached to the Government Residential Area, GRA, Police Station for paying three consecutive visits to the home of the lawmaker, who is currently on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. Saturday Vanguard learnt that Konduga was identified, beaten and rearrested on Wednesday on his third visit to the senator’s house. Kodunga, a family source said, commenced visiting on September 11, 2016, to possibly apologise to the family.

The source said: “He kept on coming to the Senator’s house purposely to apologise to the immediate family for accusing Ndume, who was charged with providing Konduga with politicians’ phone numbers and not disclosing information to authorities under Nigeria’s Terrorism Prevention Act.

An investigation by Saturday Vanguard revealed that the suspect, whose family had earlier claimed to be mentally unstable, sneaked into Ndume’s house last Sunday at about 8pm. He was said to have insisted that he wanted to see and apologise to the senator.

Explaining how the suspect was arrested, a source said: “When the security man accosted Konduga and told him the senator was not in the house, he requested to see Justice Aisha Ndume, one of the Senator’s wife, but he was asked to come back the following day. “Konduga visited the house again on Wednesday at exactly 4pm, where he was identified by some close associates of Ndume who used to accompany the senator to the Federal High Court, Abuja.
