Whatsapp Beta Update Now Allows For Editing And Retracting Messages

WhatApp is one of the most popular messaging applications available at the moment. The developers are always working on improving and adding new features to the app. Usually, the WhatsApp Beta users get any update first, so that users can check and see how that works out. The latest WhatsApp Beta update now allows the user to edit and revoke their messages.

Sent a text with typo errors or sent it to the wrong person? Well, it looks as if WhatsApp is working on rectifying these issues. In the latest update, 2.17.26 users can find the Edit feature in the upper right corner. The ability to retract messages are also present in this section but at the moment they are in development. @WABetainfo on Twitter mentions that at the moment these features have been disabled after they were rolled out to the beta versions.

The other feature that will be coming to Whatsapp is the ability to delete status from the Status Bar. The Status bar is a feature very similar to Instagram Stories. This also shows that the developing team is working the best features from other platforms in their own app. It will be interesting to see how this works out. This feature along with the other tow mentioned before is disabled.
These features hint at the direction the company is taking in terms of adding new features and functionalities. Keeping things up-to-date and listening to consumers is very important as that is what will drive growth. We are excited and cannot wait to see these updates up and working and being rolled out to every user.

How To Fix Slow Charging On All Infinix Smartphones

Infinix smartphones are taking over the smartphone market these days.
From the launch of infinix zero, to hot, hot2,and now hot3
You will agree  that the brand  infinix has shown a high level of consistency and dominance in the smartphone market.
Although infinix smartphones have amazing specifications, these does not come without a problem( Slow Charging) as identified  in this piece.
Today i will walk you down on how to fix the problem of slow Charging  on any of your infinix devices just before you waste your money fixing a fallacy.
Its imperative to note that if your device is still within the warranty period , its safer to take your phone to the customer care or calcare center.

Possible  Reasons Why You Are Experiencing Slow Charging  On Your Infix Device(s)

1. Using non infix charger to charge your device.
2. Using non comform power pack in charging.
3. Probably you haven't upgraded your device.
4. Dust particles clustering around the charging port.

Solutions

1. REPLACE THE CHARGING CABLE

Many times, it is the micro-USB to USB cable that is the culprit. These cables lose their efficiency over time and therefore can’t provide enough current (amperage) to charge the phone/device. Change the Micro-USB to cable. Either purchase a new one or borrow the one that’s being used on other device. If you are using iPhone, change the lightning cable.
Tip: When purchasing cables, always go for slightly thicker ones (higher gauge). They can transfer high current without breaking down.

2. USE AIRPLANE MODE

Airplane mode completely turns off wireless connectivity (Cellular and WiFi) of your phone. So it does not interfere with the instruments present in the aircraft. Surprisingly, Airplane mode on your smartphone can significantly improve the charging process by decreasing the charging time. The only disadvantage is that you would not be able to communicate with others through mobile network or internet.

3. GET A NEW CHARGER

If changing the charging cable doesn’t work. It’s time to change the charger. Variety of USB based chargers available in the market are of low quality, so getting a good charger is a bit challenging.
A good charger must have following specifications:
5v 2.0A – This is the standard. Get a charger which has an output of at least 2.0 ampere. Read the information written on the front/back of the charger.
Avoid chargers with detachable USB cables, their ports/connections become lose after frequent usage. It is better to get charger with fixed micro-USB output.

Warning : Refrain from using multi-purpose chargers that come with universal connectors.
4. AVOID CHARGING FROM POWERBANKS, LAPTOP OR PC

While they can charge your device using USB ports, it is still not a best idea to do so. USB ports on Computers are meant for transferring data, they do not enough current for a device to charge. Hence, slow charging.
Output current for USB in ideal scenario:
USB 2.0 can provide up to 500mA
USB 3.0 can provide up to 900mA
If you don’t have a charger nearby and using PC USB port as a last resort. It would be great if you connect your device to a USB 3.0 (blue) port.

5. STAY AWAY FROM PHONE WHILE CHARGING

Using your phone while charging may put a negative impact on your Android’s battery life. It puts battery under heavy load and cause the device to heat up. Do these things before you put your phone to charge:
Close/End all the applications that are running
Turn off WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS
Put your Smartphone Airplane mode, it will turn off all the wireless/cellular connectivity. Only do this if you’re not expecting any communication.

6. REPLACE YOUR SMARTPHONES BATTERY
. CHANGE THE ANDROID VERSION OF YOUR DEVICE

If you recently upgraded your device’s operating system through System Update (i.e. Android Marshmallow) and experiencing quick battery drain or slow charging. It means the new OS is buggy or incompatible with your device. Look for steps to downgrade the version or wait for a bug fix patch.

8. Use A Clean Tooth Brush and Methylated Spirit

Apply smaller quantity of methylated spirit to your toothbrush and gently scrub the USB port to remove any dirts or dust cluster

Whatsapp To Introduce ‘live Location Tracking’

WhatsApp is working on a feature you’ll love, this will track the live location of members, allowing users to track the location of their contacts in real time
In December last year, WhatsApp added the features to revoke and edit the sent messages in a beta version testing. The feature is currently available on WhatsApp beta for the iOS 2.17.1.869 but not available on the normal platform.
The “Live Location Tracking” is a new feature already introduced to some beta testers but will soon be roll out to both Android and iOS platform
According to available information, the features will work on WhatsApp beta version 2.17.3.28 for iOS, 2.16.399+ on Android and will be disabled by default.
The Live Location Tracking can be kept on for 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, or indefinitely.
This could come in handy if you’re supposed to meet with your family at a certain location and time, and you want to see how far away from the destination they are.
And if you don’t want anyone to track your movement, The live streaming can also be disabled so that no one can learn where you are at any given time.

FUNDS TRANSFER USSD CODES FOR ALL NIGERIAN BANKS WITHOUT INTERNET

We all know the convenience and security associated with cashless banking.  We all have our various banks, it is also known that almost every Nigerian has a mobile app dedicated to electronic bank transactions which makes banking so convenient to an extent that banks customers can pay for service and carryout other bank transactions at the comfort of their homes. However, all these mobile banking platforms are powered by internet, via wifi or mobile network data services. These sometimes can be a constraint to users, hence the need for a robust platform that will carter for those that cannot afford data, smart phones, or those that may find themselves in  areas where data services are not available or limited. I am happy to bring to your notice that there is an offline platform available for mobile banking called USSD code banking operations.

In this post, I am going to provide the codes for various Nigerian Banks. This list may not be exhaustive, but  definitely covers the most popular banks in Nigeria
Advantages of ussd banking over internet banking
  1. Just about any mobile phone can use it even phones without multimedia and internet facilities
  2. It saves cost obviously because you do not need to have data to transact
  3. it saves queue in the banking halls
  4. it is faster than Internet banking because it has fewer processes
  5. It can be used to pay bills e.g recharge cards
  6. Convenient and comfortable to use everywhere you go as it can work easily with edge/2g /gsm network. This makes it more reliable compared to internet banking that requires stable internet connectivity
DISADVANTAGES WHEN COMPARED TO INTERNET BANKING
Though the advantages of USSD outweighs its disadvantages. Below are two flaws associated with  USSD banking:
  1. If there is a network fluctuation, you may not receive the transaction successful notification and the transaction might have been completed(Solution to this: please confirm that you have not been debited whenever you fail to receive a confirmatory alert before retrying)
  2. If you have a real and complete internet banking solution especially one that requires a hard token device, you will know that there are no limits to what you can do with your account. Your withdrawal limits is more than 20 times that of ussd in Nigeria. Ussd limits are equals to ATM limits with some banks while it is slightly more in others like GT BANK.
Requirements
  • This operations can only be performed on a phone with the sim card registered to the bank
  • The is no all in one code as you will soon find out. A code is peculiar to a bank

GLO Unveil's 4G LTE

Glo 4G LTE
The broadband competition in Nigeria has hit a new height following the announcement by Nigeria’s next generation network, Globacom, that it has launched Nigeria’s first nationwide mobile 4g/Long Term Evolution (lte) network.

Subscribers in parts of some cities across the country including Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja as well as Jos in Plateau State, Warri in Delta State, Eket in Akwa Ibom State, Benin City in Edo State, Yola in Adamawa State and Zaria in Kaduna State have the opportunity to connect to glo 4g/lte network.

The company said services will be extended to other major cities in quick succession.

The successful launch of the glo 4g/lte, the country’s first widely spread lte network, will make it possible for millions of Nigerians to enjoy instant, efficient broadband internet at speeds far superior to the 3G network, thus enabling them to download ultra high definition videos in seconds.

With this development, individuals who consume huge volumes of data, government agencies, corporate organisations including banks, oil and gas companies, academic institutions and health institutions, which utilize seamless data transfer for their operations will benefit immensely from Globacom’s data intensive applications.

“We are pleased to once again play a leading role in empowering Nigerians with world class data services, helping to close the digital divide. In the last one and a half years, the people of this great country have spoken repeatedly by making Globacom the largest data network in new subscriptions. The best we can do for our people who believe in us and made us their number one data network is to give them the best technology. What we are offering is the new speed of life,” said Kamaldeen Shonibare, Head, Corporate Sales, Globacom.

In addition to the launch of 4g/lte services, Globacom has also unveiled a set of 4g data bundles to enable all categories of subscribers to have access to the unique products and services.

Under the new plan, subscribers will get a whopping 1.6GB of data for N500, while N1000 will give them 3.2GB data. Other exciting offers include 7.5GB for N2000, 10GB for N2,500, 18GB for N4000 and 24GB for N5000. The benefits also include free access to thousands of music, video and movie on demand while the data plan range from N50 to N18,000 for the benefit of all.

Other packages offered by Globacom include a brand new 4g lte router and the MIFi. While the 4g lte router gives access to Ultra High Speed Internet and landline and comes with free SIM, 60Gb of shareable data valid for a month as well as free world-class content for a one-off fee of N31,000, the company bundled the 4g MiFi with free SIM, 60Gb of shareable data valid for one month and free world-class content for a one-off fee of N25,000.

The advanced technology of glo 4g lte services, according to Mr. Shonibare, would touch all aspects of life, from education to agriculture and medical care, thus making life more interesting, comfortable and enjoyable for Nigerians.

“Our subscribers today already enjoy downloading music, video and movie contents and streaming contents on their phones and other devices. But the new glo 4g lte network offers subscribers a significantly improved experience. The video and voice quality in video calls on different applications like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber etc is a lot clearer while the picture quality is crisper, and the transmission is faster,” he said.

The glo Corporate Sales Head stated further that over 150 million telecom subscribers in Nigeria will have access to the internet at a much faster speed and enjoy ultra high definition video without buffering as well as utilise other high intensive data applications with ease, courtesy of glo 4GLTE.

Describing Globacom as the digital network for both the present and future generations, Shonibare added that, “We’re the next generation network, the grandmasters of data. That is why we have taken the lead in providing 4g lte nationwide with mobility for Nigerians. We want them to experience the power of real time mobile broadband technology at the most affordable rates,”
To join the most advanced network, he advised subscribers to buy and register a 4g lte Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) or swap his or her existing SIM for a 4g SIM, get a 4g phone and dial *777# to buy a data plan.

He also enjoined subscribers to visit the nearest Gloworld shop to connect to the glo 4g lte and enjoy the boundless opportunities offered by the advanced and superior technology.

BlackBerry to stop making phones

BlackBerry announced Wednesday it would halt in-house production of smartphones, marking the end of an era for the once-dominant Canadian tech firm.

Ontario-based BlackBerry said it had reached a deal to outsource production of its phones to an Indonesian partner, and would instead concentrate on software and services.

Handsets with the BlackBerry name will be produced under license by PT Tiphone Mobile Indonesia Tbk, a statement by the firms said.

BlackBerry, which a decade ago was among the world’s largest smartphone makers, has seen its global market share slip to less than one percent as Apple and Android devices have dominated.

As the market shifted, BlackBerry has sought to refocus on software, including security applications, and the latest announcement takes the company out of the handset market entirely.

“We are reaching an inflection point with our strategy. Our financial foundation is strong, and our pivot to software is taking hold,” said chief executive John Chen, pointing to a doubling of software revenue in the last fiscal year.

“The company plans to end all internal hardware development and will outsource that function to partners. This allows us to reduce capital requirements and enhance return on invested capital.”

The Waterloo, Ontario-based company has made several efforts in recent years to find new customer niches as its smartphone handset sales continued to stagnate in the face of competition.

It had hoped its first Android-operating smartphone launched last year would help restore the company to its former glory.

But sales were lackluster.

Earlier this year, BlackBerry announced it was killing off its Classic smartphone with a physical keyboard — once the workhorse of the smartphone market — as part of a modernization of its lineup.

But the company has continued to bleed red, posting on Wednesday a US$372 million loss in its second quarter ending August 31.

Revenues also fell to US$334 million, from US$490 million during the same period last year. The company did not report details on its smartphone shipments.

– Rebooting BlackBerry –

Some analysts praised the decision to get out of smartphone sales, at a time when the worldwide smartphone market has turned relatively flat.

“The devices business has been a distraction for both BlackBerry and investors for a number of years now,” International Data Corporation analyst John Jackson told AFP.

The end is “good news,” he said, noting an uptick in BlackBerry’s stock price in morning trading.

Shares rose more than four percent to US$8.22 in New York at 11:00 am local time (1500 GMT). This price, however, remains far below a five-year high set in October 2011 of US$23.97.

Originally known as Research in Motion, the company introduced its first internet-connected devices in the early 2000s, and earned a dedicated following of “CrackBerry” addicts.

But its luster faded with the introduction of the iPhone in 2007 and the large number of low-costs Android handsets that followed.

By moving out of hardware, BlackBerry can focus on its various business services such as messaging, cybersecurity and tracking connected devices.

Jackson said the move “should help investors, BlackBerry customers, and the company itself focus squarely on the software and services business which is fiercely competitive in its own right, but also the business that BlackBerry has been in all along.”

However analyst Michael Walkley at Canaccord Genuity said the new strategy has risks as well.

“We believe the lowered focus on hardware could have an adverse impact on its installed base of loyal BlackBerry hardware customers, potentially switching to new software and security solutions on competing smartphones over time,” he said in a research note.

How to use new whatsapp features for better experience

WhatsApp has the habit of sneakily delivering new features without you ever realising it.

Their latest update brings a bunch of super useful features that you need to known about, including disabling read receipts at last. Let me educate you on the other features hiding in the nooks and crannies of WhatsApp.  As usual, I'll take credit, not cash.

Bold, italics and understrike your messages

Make yourself heard. But not to the point of being rude with an all caps ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME message. Instead, just bold your text to bring more attention to what you're saying, or be a bit more subtle and italics certain parts of your message.

Also, be a little snarky and do a strikethrough when you intend to express a sorry, not sorry message to your friends.

How: to bold, add an * before and after the text, so it should look like *Hey*. For italics, add _ before and after the text, giving you _Hey)_. And finally to strikethrough your text, add ~ before and after the word, so you'll get ~Hey~

Send PDF and Word documents to people

This isn't exactly new but it's high time WhatsApp added the feature. A recent update allows you to send documents to fellow WhatsAppers.
How: For Android users, tap on the attachment icon on the top right corner of the interface. iOS users, land your thumb on the arrow up icon on the bottom left. You should see a new Document option, so go crazy and start sending documents to your friends.
Data savings

If you ever bothered looking at which apps consume the most data on your iPhone, chances are WhatsApp ranks high up there since you use it to send photos of your lunch to everyone. As if self aware of its data-hungry habits, WhatsApp has revamped its Settings tab for iOS and Android, this includes a brand new option that every data cap-buster will appreciate. Called Data Usage, this is your one-stop shop for watching your WhatsApp diet.

How: Go to Settings, then tap on Data Usage. In there you’ll find options pertaining to the type of media you can receive and whether you should always only accept them on Wi-Fi, or both Wi-Fi and Cellular. If you’re dangerously close to the limit, make sure everything is only on Wi-Fi, so the next photo of your friend’s dog won’t push you dangerously nearer the edge.

Also handy is the Low Data Usage for WhatsApp calls. Make sure that’s switched to make your WhatsApp calls with better peace of mind.

Google introduces ''Allo'' messaging app to rival Whatsapp

Google on Wednesday introduced a new instant messaging (WhatsApp-like) platform called Allo that features Google Assistant which can simplify little tasks for users and offer convenience while chatting or sharing files with a contact.

Allo's introduction comes close at heels after Google released its slow-networks video chat application called Duo.
Here's everything you should know about it, including how it works and why you might use it:

Exactly what is Google Allo?

Google explains Allo as a messaging app for Android and iPhone users. However, it does a lot more than simply enabling you to send out messages to other users. It's a smart messaging app because it has the power of Google built-in and can obviously learn with time. Although the user interface resembles any chat application, the combination of the artificial intelligence takes Allo's performance and simplicity of use to a brand-new level.

How does Google Allo work?

Just like WhatsApp, Allo is based upon your telephone number, so you can use it to send out messages to anyone in your phone contact - not just other Allo users. Asides that, Google had highlighted 3 elements of Allo that make it distinct eg. Security.

Security

All messages in Allo are encrypted. Allo provides an Incognito Mode, similar to Chrome browser, which means you get access to not just end-to-end encrypted messages. however, functions like expiring chats and personal notifications. You can for that reason keep message safe from spying eyes, you can control for how long they remain and completely erase them from your phone. This implies that not all messages are secured like in WhatsApp. Google wanted to provide options to users on which chats they want to be secured.

Allo benefits

Allo is connected to your contact number so you can text anybody in your phone book. You can doodle on pictures, ask Google Assistant questions, search for info, and go into an Incognito Mode, and so on. And the very best part is ... all of that can get done within this one, totally free app.
Allo likewise works with Google Duo.

Exactly what is Google Duo?
Together with Allo, Google presented an easy video calling app for iOS and Android. It's called Duo and is created to compete with Apple's FaceTime and Skype by making the system as simple as possible.
As well as including end-to-end encryption, Duo will work on even sluggish, low bandwidth web connections. It likewise sports an ingenious new function Google is calling Knock Knock. This allows Duo to reveal live previews before you pick the call. Google has actually made sure that the technology is very fast.

Recently, all National telecomm networks have made tremendous efforts to ensure data services are affordable to their subscribers.
Truth be told, the price of data have crashed to a low recently as a result of competetion among telcos. The followind are details of data offers by Airtel, MTN, GLO and Etisalat for the month of september and october 2016
  • Airtel

Airtel for the past few months have introduced mind blowing data packages that have made life easier for their subscribers. One of the data offers from Airtel is the 1.7GB plan which offers  13% extra data on the regular 1.5GB at N1000. The 13% extra data is valid for 14 days while 1.5GB is valid for 30 days To subscribe: Dail *496#

Airtel also introduced another jaw-dropping 2GB plan for N200 and 6GB for a meagre N500. The down side of this offer however, is its restriction to 2G network. This means this plan cannot be used on 3G. Click here for subscription details
Another cheap offer from Airtel is the data plan that offers 1GB for TRYBE subscribers and 750MB for subscribers on other tariff plans at N500 valid for 7 days

To subscribe

TRYBE: Dail *312#

Subscribers on other tariff Plans can Dail *141# to subscribe

Dail *312# to activate any of the night packages.
  • MTN

MTN on the other hand has come up with somecool data packages. The issue I have with MTN is the level at which data get exhausted. this one reason i don't use MTN for my data needs.
MTN was the first network to introduce the 500MB midnight plan at N25 per night. on MTN, only subscribers on PULSE are eligible for this offer. To subscribe, text NIGHT to 131

Other MTN data packages are

1.5GB at N1000/30 days

To subscribe

Dail *123*3*1# to choose a plan
  • Etisalat

NOTHING NEW
  • GLO

GLO is the most annoying network in Nigeria, with a snail like speed for internet connectivity. some times i found it difficult to use 100MB out of a 2GB data plan. What's the essence to subscribe to an astonishing plan that half of its value cannot be used before the due date.
GLO is also part of the data rush witnessed recently in the Nigerian data space. Infact GLO is a trail blazer in this aspect. If we can turn a blind eye to GLO's slow nature, then it will be classified as the best in terms of data allocation., way ahead of all the other telcos. There is nothing new about GLO, therefore, i wont explaining its pacages in details. All you need to know about GLO is contained in my earlier posts, make use of the search bar on this blog to find articles on GLO.
GLO Unlimited 0.00k browsing is still blazing with tweakware and psiphon. Click here for more details

Cheapest MTN Call Rates October 2016

I've been quiet lately as regard putting up posts in the area of mobile technology (i.e free/cheap browsing, call rates and other related mobile stuff). Reasons are not far fetched, it is simply because most of the aritcles I have alreday published are still valid and blazing with high speed.
In this post my attention is focused on making a comprehensive review of call rates on the MTN network. Lets get down to biz

Cheap MTN tariff Plans for September and October 2016

Under this heading I am going to review only four MTN tariff plans. This is contrary to the actual number of packages offered by MTN. I pick these four because to my opinion, they are the msot reasonble and cheapest among all MTN packages.
  • MTN Better Talk

  • According to MTN, subscribers on the BetaTalk plan will enjoy 200% bonus on every recharge of N200 and above. In otherwords, if you recharge your phone with N200, you will recieve a bonus of N400 in addition to your initial N200. So your actual recharge and bonus tallies up to N600.

    Therfore,
    1. N200 gives N600
    2. N400 gives N1200
    3. N500 gives N1500

    Call rates on MTN BetaTalk

Both the bonus and actual airtime can be used to make National calls accross all networks, send text massages, and browse the internet
Calls on this plan are charged at 40k/sec, this is same as N24/Min. This implies that with N200 recharge, you will be entitled to 25 minutes of talk time.
    To migrate to MTN BetaTalk

    Dial *123*2*6#
Note: The BetaTalk bonus however, cannot be shared with other MTN Subscribers
  • MTN Pulse

Pulse is the most publicised tarrif plan on the MTN network today. Presently I am on MTN Pulse and I love the experience so far. Am going to tell you why .
Here are the reasons why I am in love with Pulse
  1. Cheap Rates on National Calls. For every call made after you must have expended N10 for that day is charged at 11k/sec which amounts to N6.6/Min. This implies that a recharge of N100 is worth 14 minutes 28 seconds of talk time
  2. While subscribers on other MTN tariff plans are getting 750MB of data at N500, Pulse subscribers are entitled to a whopping 1GB of data at same amount (this is cool huh?)
  3. Subscribers on Pulse are the only customers eligible for the N500mb night data plan charged at N25 a night
  4. Pulse subscribers are entitled to 10MB of data on every first N100 recharge of the week, this amount of data is doubled if the recharge is above a hundred Naira. This is valid for 24hrs.
  5. To migrate to Pulse
    Dial *406#

  • MTN XtraPro

  • If you are someone who makes a lot of calls and has no interest in data services on the MTN network then this should be the most suitable plan for you.
Calls on MTN XtraPro are charged at 11k/sec from the very first minute of the day down to the last. 11k/sec amounts to N6.6/Min.Subscribers on this tariff plan however, are required to pay a daily access fee of N5.
This is still a good package from MTN because with just N200, subscribers are entitled to 29 minutes of talk time. These rates are only applicable to National calls
    To migrate to MTN XtraPro
    Dial *401#

  • MTN XtraSpecial

  • Making international calls most times is expensive and this could put a whole in your pocket as international call rates are often way higher than National calls . However, with the introduction of MTN XtraSpecial, subscribers can make both National and International calls at the same rate which is N9/min.
Subscribers on this package are not required to pay a daily access feel, just migrate and start calling.

How to use whatsapp on your computer

If you’re busy at work and you feel like chatting with somebody on WhatsApp, you can do that on your computer with the aid of an app designed for that purpose.

The web service is compatible with WhatsApp mobile apps on Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Blackberry and Nokia’s S60 or S40 phones. Your phone also needs to have a rear-facing camera and WhatsApp has to be turned on.

Your computer must have a recent version of Chrome, Firefox, Opera, or Safari. WhatsApp Web does not support Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge.

    Connecting your phone to computer

On your computer, visit . (Bookmark the address if you’re going to use it often.)  A bar code will appear with instruction to scan the code with your phone WhatsApp.

Now, switch back to your phone. You’ll need to open the WhatsApp Web function. Here are the procedures for the various mobile operating systems, starting from the main WhatsApp screen:

Android: Tap the Menu button, then tap “WhatsApp Web.”

iOS: Tap the Settings tab, then tap “WhatsApp Web.”

Windows Phone: Tap the Menu button, then tap “WhatsApp Web.”

Blackberry 9 or older: Tap “Chats,” then “Menu,” then “WhatsApp Web.”

Blackberry 10: Swipe down from the top of the main screen and tap “WhatsApp Web.”

Nokia S60: Tap the menu button, then tap “WhatsApp Web.”

Nokia S40: Swipe up from the bottom of the main screen and tap “WhatsApp Web.”

Your app will then open a screen with a camera window. Point your phone’s camera on your computer screen and align it so that the QR code is centred on the window. Within a second or two, the web app will authenticate, and your account and contacts will appear on the primary WhatsApp Web screen.

If you click the “keep me signed in” option on the login page as shown in the picture above, you should be able to close and open the web interface for as long as your desktop browser session is active and as long as the mobile app stays active on your phone. If you’re logged out, just repeat the steps above.

    Using WhatsApp Web

WhatsApp Web works more or less the same way that it does on your phone. The primary screen shows a list of all the chats you’re currently engaged in on your phone (or any other devices).

To start a new chat, click the text message icon in the left column and either click one of the contact names or start typing in the “Search Contacts” field. Your chat itself will appear in the right-hand side, and you can switch between any of them at any time.

Any message you send will be sent immediately to your contact’s phone, or any other device they happen to be using (including WhatsApp Web).

To start a new group chat, click the menu button (three vertical dots) and then “new group chat.” To log out of WhatsApp Web, click the menu button then “log out”.

    Enable browser notifications

If you will like to see new text messages come in even when you don’t have the WhatsApp Web tab or window active, you can enable browser notifications. These will appear as small alerts in the corner of your screen. When you first open WhatsApp Web, you should see a message in blue just beneath your profile photo with the words “Get notified of new notifications.” Click the link below and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

If you want to disable or re-enable desktop notifications, click the menu button in the WhatsApp Web interface, then click “Notifications.”
