How Benue governor is massively looting state fund - Suswam


The Benue state governor Samuel Ortom has been accused of massive corrupt practices. The immediate past governor of the state Gabriel Suswam said his successor is running a corrupt and deceitful administration.

Speaking at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) executive committee meeting in Makurdi, Benue state capital, Suswam said Ortom has militarized democratic governance in the state.

 He said the present governor is currently arresting members of PDP in Benue state randomly.

 “The government has resorted to appointing sole administrators for the 23 local government areas of the state, a development that is not known in a democratic setting,” Suswam said.

While stating that the Benue state treasury has be basterdized, Suswam called on indigenes of the state to join his force to ensure that Ortom and his officials are removed from power.

The former governor said will continue to raise an alarm on Ortom activities as he is not afraid of him (Ortom).

 “It is for these reasons that I will continue to raise alarm and not chicken out because this government said it will throw me in jail. They should know that I am not afraid,” he said.

 Meanwhile, Suswam is currently facing criminal charges of money laundering, mismanagement of public funds during his tenure as a governor. The charges leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is being heard at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
