State enguages 2,968 vendors for Buhari’s school feeding programme

The Ogun State government has engaged no fewer than 2,968 food vendors for the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration’s homegrown school feeding programme,

NEW TELEGRAPH reports that Governor Ibikunle Amosun disclosed this at St Paul’s Demonstration School, Onikolobo, Abeokuta, during the flag-off of the once mid-day free meal for Primary 1 to 3 in public schools across the state.
Amosun, who was represented by his deputy, Chief (Mrs) Yetunde Onanuga stated that the scheme would be implemented in the 1,554 primary schools in the state.
He, however, noted that the programme would commence simultaneously in 874 schools for the first phase. The governor, who described the scheme as “landmark,” commended Buhari for his commitment, resilience and statesmanship in ensuring it took off for the wellbeing of Nigerians regardless of tribe, religion and party affiliation.
He said: “There is no doubt, this is an intervention designed to eradicate poverty in our households as the women will make additional income from taking on catering businesses in their communities on weekends and when schools are off.
The utensils have been obtained via a single soft loan facilitated by our administration, and repayment will be through the earnings of the vendors.”
